What’s beneath the seabed matters when you’re planning the next generation of offshore wind.

Fugro will be working with Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) under a new multiyear framework agreement for geotechnical site investigations in the German North Sea.

Our teams will gather Geo-data offshore and combine it with laboratory testing and expert interpretation to build a clearer picture of ground conditions, helping to reduce risk and deliver the project with confidence.

Work is set to begin in March 2027, bringing together Fugro expertise from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the UK.

Because better offshore wind decisions start with a clear understanding of the ground below.

Continuing our work with Cadeler to support safe, reliable offshore wind construction 🌊

We’ve been selected by Cadeler to conduct post-installation seabed surveys for the 960 MW East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm in the UK, which is expected to power the equivalent of around 950,000 homes🏡

From early 2027, our FCV® 600 work class ROV will inspect 64 monopile foundation locations, helping confirm they’ve been installed as planned and providing the insights needed to support their long-term integrity.

This builds on our work at Hornsea 3, where our specialists are also supporting the installation of 197 monopile foundations.

🌊 When severe weather strikes, having a clear picture of changing conditions can help communities recover faster.

In response to Hurricane Isaias, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) called on Fugro to rapidly capture high-resolution lidar data and aerial imagery before and after the storm made landfall. Within 13 hours of receiving the request, our team mobilised aircraft, personnel and resources to support Florida's response efforts.

By quickly surveying approximately 150 square miles of coastline and barrier islands, we delivered Geo-data that helps state agencies immediately assess storm impacts, prioritise recovery efforts and strengthen long-term resilience planning.

⚡ Clearing the way for 4 GW of offshore wind power.

Before the LanWin3 and LanWin6 offshore grid connections can bring renewable electricity from the North Sea into Germany’s grid, their cable routes need to be carefully surveyed and prepared.

We’ve been selected by 50Hertz to survey the cable routes for unexploded ordnance (UXO), identify potential hazards and support their safe clearance ahead of installation.

🔎 Starting in Q2 2027, our teams will survey 200 m-wide corridors along the routes, gathering the Geo-data needed to map potential targets for further investigation.

Together, LanWin3 and LanWin6 will be capable of transmitting up to 4 GW of offshore wind power.

It’s a powerful example of how preparing the seabed for critical infrastructure can help support the energy transition.
