Very much agree with this blog from @a16zView quoted post on X
Recent anecdote of a pain point I've experienced: Last week I get an MRI of my calf (suspected gastrocnemius tear). I have the disc and thus the (DICOM) files of the imaging.
Ortho calls and says they have the results, so I need to follow up and make an IRL appointment to have the Dr go over them. They cannot/will not set up a virtual appointment.
This makes no sense when all I need is someone adept at reading these images to confirm it's a muscle tear and it's grade or tell me it's something else (i.e. tendon tear).
Given I have the files, I would much rather just prompt a medical model that's trained on such imaging. This saves me so much time in back and forth with the Dr, but I suspect they don't do this due to how they bill insurance.
This would cost next to nothing with an image to text model.
