Masatora Yasuda was only in the Super Junior Tag League because of an injury and Místico has just given him reason to believe.

At NJPW’s Korakuen Hall show, Yasuda and Místico secured their first victory in an A-Block match, beating Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X.

The partnership was never part of the plan. Místico was meant to team with El Desperado, his partner as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, but Desperado was ruled out of every scheduled match with spinal canal stenosis and a lumbar disc herniation. Young Lion Yasuda stepped in and the pair lost their first two outings.

With two points on the board, Místico took the microphone, beaming. He wants to win the tournament with Yasuda, he said, calling him a young man who pushes hard and can cause an upset.

Yasuda, backstage, was typically honest. He admitted he was “nowhere near good enough” and had relied on Místico throughout. But he made a promise: by the end of the tour, he’ll make everyone say, “This was Yasuda’s series.”
