Binding is nice, but it’s getting boring. If you’re not thinking about biological function, you’re ngmi.

At our last @muni_bio hackathon co-hosted with @onepot_ai, we set one ambitious goal: neutralize the latest threat of Ebola using small molecules.

The wet lab data is in, and we’re excited to announce that teams were successful, including our agent that repurposed... an anti-itch gel?

muni.bio Agents repurposed anti-itch drugs to neutralize the Bundibugyo ebolavirus — muni research An 18.6% hit rate from our Ebola hackathon (Ebolathon). Small molecules that passed the counterscreen selectively inhibited Bundibugyo pseudovirus entry, from de novo designs to a repurposed anti-i...

In January 2025 my mom’s lung cancer spread to her brain. The drug with the best chance of helping her was approved in China but not here.

A doctor told me, almost as an aside, that if she were Chinese she could buy it at a pharmacy.

So I flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes in my luggage. That was 19 months ago. My mom is still here, still working, and in her words has had an amazing three years.

The drug was approved in China in 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It still is not for sale here. I know of at least 30 Americans who have made the same trip.

I have been scared to tell this story because I worried it could cost my mom access to the medicine keeping her alive. But the problem matters more than my silence. These drugs need to be developed and available here, and that means FDA reform.

Art Allen at KFF Health News told our story this week. It also ran in The Washington Post.

@muni_bio now gives agents access to the wet-lab. Using @NVIDIAHealth's Proteina-Complexa + @adaptyvbio validation, muni found 3 sub-nanomolar binders, all of which were better than our hackathon winners.

Even if assays take days or weeks, the results automatically feed back into the agent, allowing you to orchestrate autonomous scientific research in parallel.

+1 making a traditionally cost- and time-expensive tool more accessible

Excited to share a new research blog post, in which @ishaanganti used single-edge FEP to score different binder-design methods in a fragment-expansion scenario.

To not bury the lede: frontier LLMs (GPT-5.6 Sol and Claude Opus 5) are very good and can iterate to improve further:
