🎂 Happy Birthday to Litecoin! 🎂

"15 Years of Litecoin & 15 Milestones" 🧵

Since Litecoin launched on 13 October 2011, Coinmarketcap has estimated more than 60 million cryptocurrencies have appeared. Among former ‘Top 100’ projects, Cryptorank’s research shows only 71.9% still exist, and even fewer remain active. Well, Litecoin hasn’t left the leaderboard since launch. Ever. While market cap is one way to measure Litecoin’s success, there’s so much more to the project’s 15 years of existence. And this piece is celebrating 15 milestones that’ve had a profound impact on the space, the project, and Litecoin’s users.

Happy 15 Years, Litecoin. Here’s to many more! Enjoy the 🧵 👇

The average AI agent payment is about 30 cents... and I think that one number tells you a lot about where money is heading.

That's from Coinbase's x402 standard, which handled around 165 million agent payments worth roughly $50 million by April.

Here's the thing:

30 cents is also about the fixed fee a typical card processor adds to every swipe. When you buy a $40 sweater, you never notice it. When an agent pays 30 cents for a batch of data, that fee doubles the cost of the purchase.

And what are agents actually buying? Mostly API credits, domain names and cloud storage... the plumbing of the internet.

That list looks a lot like where $LTC already gets spent. On coingate, about 73% of Litecoin payments go to web hosting, proxies and gaming, at fees of a fraction of a cent.

Most of this agent traffic runs on stablecoins like $USDC & $USDT today, and that makes sense for services priced in dollars.

Software paying software for internet infrastructure is a job Litecoin has been doing for years, and I'd love to see it in that conversation early.
