So much excitement surrounding this program. There is another challenging schedule and nice mix of returning talent and newcomers. Enjoyed seeing them this fall and am excited to see how the club comes together this spring.

LSU swept two from Samford Saturday (11-0, 12-1) and won the first game Sunday 4-1. Samford took the finale 4-1. Quick takeaways: Love the LSU freshmen. Casan Evans was dominant in 2 IP. Really deep team with all kinds of lineup options. No idea how Jay will find time for all the deserving candidates.

Samford displayed impressive pitching depth considering all the innings in the 2-day, 4-game series. Andrew Marble threw 3 hitless, scoreless frames. Frank Randol had a homer. Another year contending in the SoCon for the Bulldogs

Marble added 2 more Ks (and 2 walks) and put up another hitless, shutout frame. Bulldogs up 2-0 after 3

Samford game 2 starter Andrew Marble is a senior righty who is carving up LSU with 6-up-6-down with 4 Ks. He’s spinning the heck out of it and mixing in a high 80s FB. Bulldogs lead 1-0 after 2

LSU’s freshmen class is going to be a problem for opponents the next few years. Today, 3B Malachi Washington and OF Lucas Nawrocki have already homered as LSU leads 4-0 after 3. Also, OF Dominic Santarelli hit a long one to left that the wind knocked down. They are building blocks for the future but those three will be hard to keep out of the lineup this spring
