Click the thread below to get to my SARS-CoV-2 mega-metathread.

That thread previously had its own intro tweet, but I deleted it by mistake. This being Twitter, there are no free undos. So instead this tweet will parachute you into it.

"Now"? I guess NYTimes forgot that Trump and the Clintons were from NY (sure, the Clintons only later but Hillary ran from there), and Schumer was the senior US legislator in the Biden years

Would love for NYTimes to write on whether NYorkers governing the US has been net ⊕/⊖

It's been apparent that the traditional media has an unspoken incentive to stoke arguments to get soundbites and sensationalize the news. When they do it between identifiable groups of people (by religion, or ethnicity, or gender) it can have lasting harmful effects on politics

The media spent October obsessing over Abdul El-Sayed's "problem" with Jewish voters. The Washington Post, the NYT, NPR, and the AP ran constant articles.

In the end, El-Sayed got 60% of the Michigan Jewish vote, 1.3% less than Elissa Slotkin did in 2024. Michigan has 8M registered voters, and its population is 1.3% Jewish. So, back-of-the-napkin math means the media tried to center an issue that only mattered to about 1,350 voters in a race decided by over 300,000 votes.

The mainstream media is a joke.

GOP elected officials on who to blame for election results
Phillips P. OBrien Verified account @PhillipsPOBrien 3d
Watching all these Republican attempts to explain why they lost the election is painful, because they cannot come out and say one simple truth. They handed the party to a corrupt, criminal, dictator-loving, economic and strategic idiot--who proceeded to be all of these things.
