Today we're launching Latent-Y: the world's first autonomous agent for drug design, lab-validated end to end.

Give it a research goal. Latent-Y reasons, designs, iterates, and delivers lab-ready antibodies, autonomously or collaboratively, with the biological reasoning of a PhD protein design expert.

We have offices in SF and London, and hiring has significantly longer lead times in the UK.

I am one of the early signatories in a letter to the Primer Minister @andyburnham asking to improve this.

The UK is an amazing place for innovation and has incredible talent. To fully unfold that potential, we have to be able to build companies as fast as in other AI ecosystems around the world.

1/ Today we’re launching an open letter calling on the government to end unfair restrictions that stop Britain’s best switching jobs or starting companies.

UK AI companies that have raised $5bn agree: our best should be free to start and scale. 🧵

On 20 August we're marking the launch of the Latent-Y Researcher Tier with an evening in San Francisco.

We opened it to researchers worldwide in July, putting Latent-Y, our drug design agent, in their hands with a daily quota of designs. It's already clear what that makes possible: ion channel inhibitors that work, CAR-T cells that kill tumour cells, binders the malaria parasite cannot escape.

Read what they built: latentlabs.com/latent-y-resea…

Two of those researchers, Prof. Vladimir Yarov-Yarovoy (UC Davis) and Dr. Daria Briukhovetska (LMU Munich), will join a panel alongside Stacy Feld (Johnson & Johnson), Prof. @lecong (Stanford), Edward Kliphuis (Sofinnova Partners) and me, with @davidkmyang (Lux Capital) moderating. There'll also be a live demo of Latent-Y, and we'll be announcing a new program for researchers taking on the hardest problems in human health.

Thursday 20 August, 6pm, Fort Mason, San Francisco.

Today we launch Latent-Y, our drug design agent. 250 designs free every day for any approved researcher.

We are also releasing the first lab results from researchers with early access: Ion channel inhibitors that work. CAR-T cells that kill tumour cells, now in vivo. Binders the malaria parasite cannot mutate away from.

Join us for launch! Latent-Y is coming to the Latent Labs Platform, available to researchers worldwide with a free daily quota. Designing an antibody from scratch used to take a specialist team weeks. Soon any researcher will do it in an afternoon, from a plain-language prompt.

Latent-Y is our lab-validated protein design agent. Give it a design goal, or a scientific paper, and it works through to lab-ready sequences. At its core is Latent-X2, our frontier generative model for antibody design, in researchers' hands for the first time and a milestone in its own right. The free daily quota is enough for routine, exploratory campaigns, with on-demand compute for larger ones.

We are marking it with an evening in London on 15 July. Early-access researchers will share, first-hand, designs that held up in the wet lab, some out of reach until now. We will close with a panel, "Frontier protein design, now in every researcher's hands." If England reach the semi-finals, we will stream the game straight after, drinks and snacks on us, somewhere you have never watched football before. Register at luma.com/latent-y-launch.

Excited to be on the panel with Stefan Oschmann (former CEO, Merck KGaA), Vladimir Yarov-Yarovoy (UC Davis), Daria Briukhovetska (LMU University Hospital) and Ed Kliphuis (Sofinnova Partners), moderated by @leahelizmorris (Pillar).
