I'm just now wrapping up the finishing touches of my work on the pre and post launch engineering and development support of Twisted Tower for Thomas Brush and Atmos Games + 3D Realms. There are still a few remaining threads to snip and buttons to snap, but we're right about ready to begin what's next.

Oh boy what an undertaking this has been!

This last few weeks has been an insane whirlwind unlike any other development experience I've ever had. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience something like this at least once in their career. Every bit of my engineering background got tested all the way from community management, front end interfaces, and tooling to assist with a rapid influx of a massive audience -> through to a deep profiling, optimization, performance, and reliability engineering for deep level systems and abstractions in the engine itself. No domain was left untested. I believe, based on the reception, that we passed.

I hope sometime soon I'll get to share some background about how our roads crossed and how I got roped into helping out on this game, but for now (and suffice it to say) this will go down as one of the most interesting personal stories in my already storied history up to now.

I can't say what the future holds, but I know for certain I am absolutely invigorated for this next chapter in my own career here in making video games.

To Thomas I hope you hold your game as a badge of honor moving forward. We've all watched you work so hard on all the previous games over so many years, and then we watched how much effort it took from you and your team over these last 5 years to get to this point. Twisted Tower is absolutely excellent, and you deserve this break.

To all the incredible creators that gave so much of their awesome creative talents to the production of Twisted Tower over the last 5 years, from musicians to voice actors to artists, and then all the various people that gave advice and guidance along the way, and even the other people that got to write some of the underlying code that really created the overall feeling of interacting with this world I want to say thank you, and bravo. You all poured so much heart into this project and it absolutely bleeds out of every pore in the game.

To all of the community members that have been assisting us up to and through the launch of Twisted Tower I have to say: thank you, so much.

Your help was absolutely vital in the success of this effort, and without the never ending help you gave in the form of play testing, feedback, late night hours spent breaking, re breaking, and then re breaking again... and then helping to aggressively catalogue and categorize the issues... we never could have managed such a dramatic rate of improvement. I've never seen such a dedicated community so willing to aggressively tackle the challenge of getting the game ready.

Thanks for everything, and I'm looking forward to what's coming next!

P.S. If you want to keep up with what my own studio is working on, check us out on Steam (link in my profile). I can't tell you about every single game being worked on, but Bloodrust is up next and I really think if you like dark fantasy, dungeon crawlers, RPGs, exploration, combat, Wizardry inspired blobbers and CRPGs, and very deep (dense) world building and lore... this one is for you and you absolutely won't want to miss it.

I’m making a programming language called blood.

Faster than rust, a powerful type system, all the power of effect systems, metaprogramming, zero-cost worktrees, semantic merging, sqlite-stored content-addressable code.

Psychosis? Hopefully not.
