Are yall still hyper focused on keeping the context window clean (ie /clear between tasks) or are you beginning to trust compacting and keeping threads alive longer?

I used to be locked in on @mattpocockuk and @dexhorthy trying everything to keep context tight. Much less so now

this was cool! also was another reminder for myself to try the ambitious thing first and work backwards. Trying to fight that urge of over-engineering too early

My friend @stevelacey says AI agents almost never use MCPs if they have it available

I thought the same before which I was against MCP so long

I always thought APIs could do the same already, in the back they're almost exactly the same

Long term I think MCP and API endpoints will just merge into one, both supporting API keys and OAuth account level access

I have been adding MCPs to my site simply for the fact that people expect them now but as Steve says it's debatable if AI agents actually will use them over whatever other way there is to use your site

This recent client had no eval set and it turned out to kinda be helpful. Ended up having to go through all of their data (more hours than I want to admit) to hand-label one. Ironically, probably ended up being the fastest way for me to really understand the problem.

My loop with ideas:

have an idea -> research it -> realize someone already did it -> "no longer a good idea, need new one" -> repeat

This time I didn't research my way out of it and decided I'd actually finish one. Now it's live and someone out there paid for it!
