Ty Long

I talk a lot about the difference between motivation and discipline with my guys I train. Everyone I train has motivation. But the thing about motivation, there’s a shelf life. After day 4-5 that motivation is gone. But when you have discipline, you’re able to hold your self accountable, to a level motivation doesn’t come close to. For example my morning routine is worship music and prayer in the hot tub and then in the cold tub for a plunge. I never actually want to get in the cold tub. But I have to battle over the weak thoughts with more powerful and positive thoughts. This allows me to stay true to what I said I was going to do and keep a discipline routine. So make a deal with yourself and hold yourself to it. Discipline and motivation are not the same!

Year 2 of the TLK Transfer Portal Combine is coming in early January 2027!

Last year, 39 athletes attended, 17 earned full rides, and every athlete found a new home. We’re excited to build on that success and give the next group an opportunity to show what they’re capable of.

This event is built for transfer portal long snappers, punters, and kickers looking for their next opportunity.

We’ll have live operation for punters and kickers, with the event streamed live on Isaac Punts’ YouTube channel so college coaches can watch from anywhere. We’ll also have coaches attending in person to evaluate athletes firsthand.

TrackMan will be back to provide verified data, and every athlete will receive their TrackMan data and film within 24 hours after the event to share with coaches.

Applications are open at TyLongKicking.com. Submitting an application does not guarantee a spot. My staff and I will review every application and select the athletes for this year’s event.

What if the finish line you’re chasing is actually limiting how great you could become?

Delayed gratification…

Are you willing to work every single day with no end in sight? Because if you are, you give yourself a chance to reach greatness.

I firmly believe most people work with the finish line in mind. And that’s completely fair. But what if the finish line was beyond anything you ever imagined?

What could you accomplish if you committed to the process every single day and focused more on the work than the result?

When you master a process that continuously produces results, you learn how to win over and over again.

If you’re handed the result once, you may never learn how to recreate it.

Real success is being able to create it multiple times, not just once.

Never peak. Enjoy the journey.

There’s more than one way to mold a football, but I believe the handshake grip is the most consistent mold a punter can use.

The goal is to find a mold that helps you get the ball in a good, consistent position. Just like in golf, your grip needs to match your swing.

The more consistently you put the ball in the right spot, the better chance you give yourself to hit good punts.

If you dropped it better, set it quicker, and saw the ball longer, would you be a better punter? Absolutely.

Give the handshake mold a try. It could help you today!
