Some people mistakenly believe that human “caravans” seeking to enter our country illegally are an organic phenomenon. They are assuredly not.
They are meticulously organized on social media, and—under the prior Administration—became a massive and lucrative business, primarily for criminal enterprises. The people themselves are just the pawns, often subject to inhuman and degrading treatment along the way.
Under the leadership of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, all of this stopped immediately and we now have THE MOST SECURE BORDER IN HISTORY. But the criminals and caravan organizers have not vanished or given up. Even now, they continue to organize caravans that have ZERO CHANCE of entering our country.
An important part of our strategy is to work closely with authorities in other countries to stop caravans before they even approach our border. In this regard, we commend the Guatemalan, Honduran, and Mexican governments for their recent decisive and effective actions. By setting up checkpoints and working closely with @DHSgov, these authorities halted mass illegal travel in its tracks. Enforcing border security at the source delivers results. 🇺🇸🇬🇹🇭🇳🇲🇽

Under the leadership of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, @SecRubio and I have long emphasized that foreigners who participate in, advocate, or celebrate political violence aren’t welcome visitors in our country, and that we’re ready, willing, and able to revoke visas as we become aware of such cases. We take this issue, which prior Administrations failed to address, with the utmost gravity.
Many cases that have been brought to our attention on social media, however, do not in fact involve foreigners present in our country on visas, but instead US citizens. Under those circumstances, obviously, no visa action is implicated. So just make sure to take with a grain of salt what you read online. As always, we encourage everyone to report suspected visa fraud or abuse at travel.state.gov/en/report-visa… and we’ll look into it.🫡🇺🇸

One of the most magical moments of my recent trip to South America occurred during my call upon President @JMilei at the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires. I expressed my admiration for his vision of a resurgent and confident Western civilization and he reached over and read aloud the three opening paragraphs of a book sitting on his desk.
I quote in part: “A civilization always rests on some basic myth. The myth undergirding the civilization of the West is the myth of Prometheus. … It expresses the spirit of revolt against the prohibitions of jealous gods, which symbolize the fears of primitive peoples in the presence of natural forces which dominate and terrify them. It expresses the curiosity and love of adventure which drove Ulysses to unknown horizons and enabled him to overcome the perils of the seas through intelligence and courage. It embodies that love of action which incited Hercules to rid the earth of tyrants, brigands, and monsters, to tame the rivers and drain the swamps. It is that thirst for knowledge which led Pliny the Elder to risk his life by going to the very brink of Vesuvius in eruption. … Western civilization is a product of this attitude. Promethean implies a refusal to be satisfied with the human lot as it is, an insistence on the possibility of improving things and shaping them to fit man’s needs and dreams.”
The book is called “The Genius of the West” by Louis Rougier. I ordered a copy online as soon as we concluded the meeting. 🇺🇸🤝🇦🇷

Under the leadership of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @JMilei, US relations with Argentina are at an all-time high. I visited Buenos Aires this week to reaffirm and deepen this historic alignment.
Argentina is one of the world’s richest countries in both human capital and natural resources, and American capital and know-how can help unlock its vast potential for mutual benefit. I was honored and delighted to meet with President @JMilei, Foreign Minister @pabloquirno, Economy Minister @LuisCaputoAR, and other key ministers and economic leaders, and our meetings were both substantive and exceptionally warm.
¡Un fuerte abrazo al gobierno y al pueblo de la gran República Argentina de parte de un amigo de toda la vida! 🇺🇸🤝🇦🇷

The power of water is awesome. Paraguay and Brazil harnessed the power of the mighty Paraná River at the Itaipú Dam, one of the world’s engineering marvels. This project was only a dream when I lived in Paraguay as a boy in the 1970s, and it was a true joy to visit the completed project now as US Deputy Secretary of State.
And it was even better to visit with Paraguayan President @SantiPenap to announce that US investors have signed a deal to build a data center nearby drawing on the abundant hydroelectric energy. This deal has the potential to be the largest foreign private investment in Paraguay’s history and thus to deepen the longstanding ties between our countries. 🇺🇸🤝🇵🇾
