Today, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a stronger appreciation for the freedoms, opportunities, and constitutional protections that define our American way of life. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
On Victims of Communism Day, we recognize the more than 100 million people who lost their lives at the hands of communists.

Under the leadership of @GovRonDeSantis, we have ensured Florida students learn the truth about the devastating ideology of communism and the immense human suffering it has caused around the world.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a stronger appreciation for the freedoms, opportunities, and constitutional protections that define our American way of life.

I'm a public school superintendent in Florida. And I believe in school choice.
Some people find that surprising.

They shouldn't.

I believe in free markets and I believe competition makes everyone better.

Florida has given parents real power to choose where their children learn. Charter schools, private schools, virtual options, scholarships that follow the child.

I don't see that as a threat to public education. I see it as the push public education needed.

When a business knows its customers can leave, it gets better. It listens. It innovates. It earns loyalty instead of assuming it.

Our customers are students and parents. And in my district, we compete for them every day.

That means:

→ Building programs families can't find anywhere else
→ Responding to parents like their time and trust matter
→ Measuring ourselves by whether families choose to stay
→ Never treating an enrollment as something we're owed

Competition doesn't weaken public schools. Complacency does.

The question isn't whether families should have a choice. They should, and in Florida, they do.

The question is whether we'll give them a reason to choose us.

West Boynton Middle is at the cutting edge of blending traditional academic education with market aligned career pathways. The applied learning these “stingers” are experiencing is nothing short of remarkable. 🐝 🧡🧡
Florida’s future is being built in classrooms like these.

At West Boynton Middle School today, Commissioner @HenmackIII got to see students preparing for in-demand careers in healthcare, sports management, and entrepreneurship.

Thank you to @pbcsd and Principal Peccia for your incredible work and commitment to Florida’s students.

Classical or liberal learning is “noble and suitable for a free person.”

Thrilled to see Clemson name its new Great Books department after Aristotle’s Lyceum. Free people should read the books that taught us how to be free.
