Heroism in the wake of Super Typhoon Mawar. 🌊🏅

On November 2, 2026, the #USCG presented Guam Fire Department's Fire Capt. Andrew H. Lee with the Gold Lifesaving Medal and Fire Capt. Jerred R. Wells with the Silver Lifesaving Medal for their extraordinary heroism on May 25, 2023. Just minutes after Super Typhoon Mawar passed, five teenagers were swept into a treacherous channel near Agat Marina. With communications down, waves exceeding 20-25 feet, and winds gusting to 50 mph, both firefighters placed their own lives at extreme risk to save others.

Investing in our people and Great Lakes #readiness! 🚁⚓

The #USCG awarded a $12.9 million contract to upgrade infrastructure at Air Station Traverse City, modernizing living quarters, facilities, and backup power so our crews stay #AlwaysReady through severe Michigan winters.

The project is funded in part by the historic investment in the Coast Guard provided by the Working Families Tax Cut Act – the largest capital investment in the Service’s history. Of the nearly $25 billion appropriated under WFTCA, the Service has ordered approximately $20 billion in assets, capability, and infrastructure.

Commandant Adm. Kevin Lunday met with New Zealand Ambassador Chris Seed @NZembassyUS on Pacific partnership: search and rescue across vast ocean distances, fisheries enforcement, and Antarctic operations. Capable partners help secure the approaches to our homeland. 🇺🇸🇳🇿 #USCG

@USCG awarded an approximately $114M contract to modernize the water distribution system at Base Kodiak, Alaska, the service’s largest operational facility.

What it delivers:

• 8+ miles of main water lines recapitalized
• 4 water storage tanks replaced
• Drinking water for those who live and work on base
• Fire suppression for two aircraft hangars and other facilities

Base Kodiak supports Coast Guard surface and aviation operations across Alaska and the Arctic. Modern shore infrastructure keeps crews and aircraft ready to launch when lives are on the line.

With nearly $25B from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the largest capital investment in Service history, the Coast Guard has already ordered more than $20B in new assets, depot maintenance and shore facilities to accelerate modernization and restore readiness.

Expected completion: October 2031.
