This is such a revealing logic:

1) imagine we’d bombed the shit out of Iran even more
2) suppose that works, dictatorship is gone! Yay!
3) we’re the heroes, everybody loves us!
4) then we steal their oil!

I wonder what would have happened in an alt timeline:

1/ Sufficient supply of both interceptors and courage
2/ Ayatollah surrenders, secular republic installed
3/ Iranian men and women celebrating
4/ Iranian oil transferred back to the partially western pre-1979 ownership

Curious that the stated privacy goal is to protect the model’s information from the user, not the other way around.

well well well, things I didn’t expect:

• anthropic shipping zk proofs for ai inference
• with that ofc the proof system is similar to what ethereum rollups use (so surprising to see which rollups got mentioned) cc @gluk64
• part of the jump on speed is that they used h100, the earlier proof of the same model was done in 14 hrs for 1k tokens, compared to 9sec today

Every few years someone asks “why don’t we mine Bitcoin on the heater” and the answer is always the same. Because you’re turning a $50 device into an $850 computer and you can buy much more Bitcoin with that extra $800 than you’ll ever mine.

Genesis batch is $899. A regular element runs ~$20-60, so the premium is roughly $840-880.

At current ~$0.037/TH/day hashprice, 34 TH/s yields about $1.26/day full-time or ~$1 at the claimed >80% utilization. Power replaces heat you already use, so marginal electricity cost is zero.

Payback on the premium is therefore around 2-2.5 years, before difficulty rises or BTC price moves. Actual time depends on your household hot-water demand and future network conditions.
