I admired David as an exceptional surgeon, fine scientist and true teacher who always stood up for what was right. I remember his coronary surgery lectures at the Royal College of Surgeons in London over 20 years ago. His legacy will live on through those he inspired.
With profound sadness, we acknowledge the passing of Professor David Taggart of the University of Oxford - an outstanding cardiac surgeon, clinical investigator, educator and one of the true giants of coronary surgery.
David was a longstanding friend and generous contributor to EACTS. Our members will remember his formidable intellect, his candour and the energy with which he shared his knowledge. His legacy will endure through the evidence he helped create, the surgical practice he changed, the colleagues he challenged and inspired, and the patients who continue to benefit from his work.
We honour his life and his exceptional contribution to our profession.
