Even just the fact that you can mould it to what you need, the models, plugins and tools is enough, the fact that the harness is indeed the best pretty much out of the box is the cherry on top

I didn't bother with OpenClaw but I'm damn glad I started using Hermes when it picked up just a handful of weeks later

i've spent over 1,000 hours building with AI agents... and i've tried them ALL

from OpenClaw to Grok Bot, ChatGPT Dots and Open Bot... every single time, i end up back on Hermes

here's why:

- it hasn't stopped evolving since i first tried it in march, it keeps absorbing the best features from its competitors
- the team behind it is locked in, new models, connectors and plugins land extremely fast
- it's one of the best harnesses you can use, sometimes more efficient than Codex or Claude Code for me
- you can run any model, bring your own subscriptions, or run it locally and it picks the best model for your machine
- it just works... and when it breaks, one 'hermes doctor' fixes it

i get why people are impressed by Grok Bot's UI, but it takes 5 minutes to make the Hermes desktop app look exactly how you want

hide the tool calls, the extra menus, everything you don't need, and you end up with a setup that's yours forever

the mobile app is in beta right now, i should get access in a few hours, and what i've seen so far is legit

once it goes public, a lot of people will realize no other personal AI agent can compete

so the time you put into your Hermes setup today pays off hard in the coming months

because when Grok Bot runs on a nerfed model, when Muse gets locked to the US, or when your usage limits everywhere else get ridiculous...

Hermes will still be standing and delivering, like it has for me for the past 6 months

Yesterday @obsdmd's CEO @kepano picked up my video about the new lock screen quick capture features, and shared it to the world.

Because of this I've received quite a wave of new interest on this account, and realise that some of you may not know who I am.

So, here goes...

I'm Theo, and I picked up Obsidian back in 2022 after procrastinating my way through A-levels (pre-university exams back in the UK).

I'd been switching from Notion to OneNote to Tana and onwards in a helpless search for a silver bullet that would replace my need for real work.

Needless to say, that didn't work out, and I landed on Obsidian around the time I started learning about PKM properly, through @fortelabs' Building a Second Brain and @soenke_ahrens' How to Take Smart Notes.

It was from here that I developed a system originally for my own study (it was necessary, as I'd made good in the exams and was headed to uni that September) and personal projects: PARAZETTEL, with elements from Tiago Forte's PARA Method and a little touch of Zettelkasten in the mix.

At the start of the following year (January 2023), once I'd finished my first semester of my first year, I started writing on the internet, first about any topic that came to mind.

After a while, one of my earliest pieces, about a new experiment I'd tried using Obsidian with one of the most primitive forms of the GPT APIs back in really early 2023, got many more views, so I narrowed down into the niche of teaching about PKM, specifically in Obsidian.

Almost four years later and I'm still doing it...

We've got a Foundations program, a new, entirely-custom platform to learn on, a short book about the workings underlying PARAZETTEL, PARA Method and any other note-taking system that serves someone successfully in the world, and are very recently looking into the best way to share insight around building in Obsidian with AI (in a useful way).

I post about all of this, here on this account, from workflows, to discoveries and theories. The highlights are a good place to start if you're new. Welcome!
